Preschool Easter Party

Since my birthday is around and sometimes on Easter and now I have a daughter who is also in the month of April and could possibly have a birthday on Easter, I LOVE Easter and Easter Parties. We had such a fun time this year, and hey, NO SNOW!!! Not bad, huh!

Happy Birthday Rebekah, Yor are 5!!!

How completely boggling is it that my baby is 5 years old?!? But she is and such a lovely, silly, smart as a whip, mischievous 5 I have never seen!!! Our house has never done 5 like this before, it should be a tremendous adventure!!! I love that Rebekah is so very much her own person, she caters to no one, is persuaded by no one --unless what they are asking her to do is precisely what she wants to do. She loves Tangled and Angelina Ballerina. She loves to draw and to cut out "paper dolls" from the coloring book pages she carefully colors, or originals she has drawn herself, she's very skilled with those scissors. She can write her name beautifully, using "fancy" letters and regular ones. ;) She loves having play dates and adores her buddies, best of whom are Kendall, Kate, Jennifer and Aubrie. She LOVES making up songs about whatever is running through her head at the time and sings them very loudly to share with the world! Rebekah loves to swing, play in the sand and is the fastest runner to school of any other little kid before her---which is all of them. Seriously, no matter when I try to leave, we are always running just a hair late and we have to book it to school. She runs the entire way nearly every day! She doesn't like to shop with me. She LOVES to be read to, as long as she can choose the book. She loves her soft stuffed animals, but she also LOVES to play Barbies in the Barbie house Kevin made and I decorated--she is the first of my girls to really and truly love playing with it! I am so happy!! Rebekah is also the first girl I have had who loves to wear dresses, with shorts underneath of course. She never lets me do her hair, which I am sad about. :( But prefers instead to create her own hair fashion. She may be a bit ahead of her time, or else was watching parts of the eighties very closely---minus the wacky colors, she could give Cindy Lauper a real run for her money! We need to invest in more clips, apparently! Rebekah's teachers in Primary are the Matheney's. She thinks Sister Matheney looks like a Barbie doll and tells her all the time--which is very cute and makes her day. On her birthday we brought her flowers and Rebekah was SO excited to hand them to her. Rebekah is at that stage when she knows in her little big heart that change is coming. She wants me to leave her at birthday parties and play dates--even asking and rejoicing when I say I'm not staying while we're on the drive to get there, but then hangs on to me until I leave---very uncharacteristic with her independent personality, but true to form for her age I guess. :)She still has a laugh that could cure all ill in the world and a giggle that could start a happy explosion. She knows this and when things are strained, she asks to be tickled and when I'm calm enough to do it, it makes all the stress go away. It's magic, that laugh! I know all 4 of our children are from the same exact gene pool. It is remarkable to me how amazingly and delightfully different they all are! I LOVE seeing their amazing personalities come shining through. We are SO blessed to have Rebekah in our home. She is amazing and an adventure and we love her forever!!

Another Birthday Gift!!

Brandon's Mom had found this amazing piano duet book with lots of great songs in it. It wasn't too hard---a very big plus in my case---and said we should try the first one---it was Paccabel's Cannon, a long time fave of mine anyway, so I said sure. It has taken me a year, but I am really great at it now and we sound great together! WELL, around my birthday time, she decided that she would like to find me a hard copy of the book for our house. She searched and finally found one, it's a Canadian company. It finally got here and I am ECSTATIC about it!!!!! Thank so much Mom!!! This one will keep giving back for YEARS!!! I know we'll get them all perfect eventually! ;)

GeoCacheing at the Arboretum!

OK, so this was the most fun ever!!!! The Arboretum here is so fun, WONDERFUL!! They had a free day where anyone who wanted could come and have a fun adventure finding clues through geo-cacheing locations that led you to find a local author. Each location had a little box full of some notes, a picture and an object to describe the author you were searching for, ending up with the author. Ours was Matthew Henry Hall. When we "found" him, he let the kids chose a special gift and read one of his books to them himself. We visited one other author and made Bookman's bags as well, SO fun!!! I cannot imagine how many hours were spent to make this such a phenomenal experience, I am so thankful for all the hands and thought that went into this day for us. WONDERFUL!!!
